That would very much depend on WHAT you drank, HOW MUCH you drank and HOW OFTEN and for HOW LONG. The longer and more you drink, the longer it takes to detox. Treatment facilities will tell you there is something called PAW (post alcohol withdrawl) which can last for months and sometimes years. I don't quite buy into that way of thinkinig!! I was detox nurse in treatment facility and never observed this to be true nor did I personally go through it myself.

Give yourself loads of credit for what you are doing. Give the alcohol another week to fully exit from your cells and organs and know that the worst is over. But it may take awhile to be able to 'think' normally, but everyday it gets better.

The addiction to nicotine may take a lifetime to get over. I know from experience, it can attack at the most amazing times!! But knowing that the longest urge to smoke lasts only 3 minutes has gotten me through some tough spots many times.

Do drink lots of fluids, esp water, to rid yourself of toxins. Expect to gain some weight from eating more when you are kicking the nicotine, but that can be dealt with later.

Again, good job.

Never try to detox yourself because to is dangerous. People who drink alot should go to the hospital for detox. Believe me, I know. They will have you feeling better in one or two days. Ask for charity if you have to. Alcohol withdrawal can cause seizures and delirium tremmons.

my best advice is to NOT try giving up cigarettes at the same time. Sure they are bad for your health, but trying to give them up together is making your cravings worse, and lessening your chances of successfully quitting either.

other advice? go to AA. many of them have been through it. they advise people who are quitting to have more sweets for a while. They probably have other things that can help you - either understanding or knowledge.
